The 3 Pillars of Montessori

Montessori education rests on a carefully prepared environment, the trained Montessori guide, and the child as an active, capable learner.

01

The Prepared Environment

The Montessori classroom includes indoor and outdoor spaces with child-sized furniture, accessible shelves, beautiful materials, and freedom of movement. Materials are developmentally appropriate, aesthetically pleasing, and often self-correcting, allowing children to discover and refine their work independently.

02

The Montessori Guide

The Montessori guide prepares and maintains the environment, observes each child closely, and presents materials when the child is ready. The guide acts as a bridge between the child and the environment, with deep love and respect for each child's whole being.

03

The Child

In Montessori, the child takes centre stage. Each child is honored as a unique individual with innate potential, developing independence, confidence, responsibility, and a love for learning at their own pace.
